Abu Rawash WWTP
In 2022, a consortium led by Aqualia completed the design and construction of the Abu Rawash wastewater treatment plant located in Cairo, Egypt. The Abu Rawash plant is one of the largest in the world, treating 1.6 million m³ daily and serving more than 5.5 million people.
The Abu Rawash plant project was a finalist in the "Wastewater Company of the Year" category at the Global Water Awards, which the prestigious British group GWI awards annually. The company was nominated for contributing to the decontamination of the Nile River and being one of the most important development vectors in the third most populous country in Africa.
Additionally, in 2009, Aqualia was awarded the design, construction, financing, and 20-year management of the New Cairo wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) located in the capital of Egypt, with a capacity of 250,000 m³/day. This was the first contract awarded in the country for a public-private partnership project. The total value of this contract, with which Aqualia serves more than 1 million inhabitants, was recorded at 482 million dollars.
El Alamein RO
In 2019, Aqualia completed the El Alamein desalination plant project in Egypt, which produces 150,000 m³/day and significantly contributes to alleviating water scarcity in the central Mediterranean region of Egypt. The company is currently operating and maintaining this facility until 2027.
